Discover Bussum and Gooisemeren

on

Dear tourist,

Bussum is a little village and is part of Gooisemeren. In Bussum you can find local shops, restaurants, ice-cream parlours, a cinema, a swimming pool and lots of beautiful nature.

Everything you find in Amsterdam you can find in Bussum!

In the area there are some good hotels:
Hotel Jan Tabak

Bastion Hotel (Right next to a train station from where you can easily go to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Amersfoort, Hilversum, Den Haag, Rotterdam etc

Vesting Hotel (10 minutes from Bussum)

NH Hotel Naarden

The NH Naarden hotel is surrounded by the rolling countryside of Holland’s Gooi region – also known as the ‘Garden of Amsterdam’. Naarden’s marina and 18-hole championship golf course are just around the corner and the town center is within easy walking distance, too.

and B&b’s.

With public transport or car you are within 15 minutes in Amsterdam and within 30 minutes in Utrecht.

Parking costs are about 1,20 euro an hour, in the centre of Amsterdam you will pay at least 7,50 an hour.

We give you some nice suggestions to visit, we love to support the locals!

The best ice cream in the area! Our favourite is the applepie ice-cream, but the caramel sea salt is also yum! All ice is artisanal and the owners want to assure you  that every ice flavor is of the highest quality, that of course also applies to the ingredients. You can really taste the love and passion!

A lovely restaurant that serves fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Our personal favourite dish is the surf and turf, but your chef Jochem is world famous here in Bussum and makes every dish a party! You can share dishes and Jochem is using mostly local or typical Dutch products.

A friendly cafe that serves great beers, drinks and some cheese (our cheese :))

Home made fries, the real dutch treat! Owner Stefan is famous for his home made fries and if you want a typical Dutch snack on the side you should try the Kwekkeboom kroket. Vegetarians are not left out, Stefan made sure that there is plenty to choose from. We recommend the ‘groente’ kroket.

Our local cinema, with a great interior! There is a beautiful lounge where you can drink and eat something. Even if you don’t want to see a movie it is a picture worth visiting!

Close to Bussum you can find Naarden-Vesting with a rich history, you can find there a museum where you can make a little boat trip

https://www.vestingmuseum.nl There are tour guides that will tell you about the history and show you around. It is really worth your time visiting the museum.

If you want to drink or eat something after or before visiting the museum you should visit Siem. Siem is a great host and has a wine menu that pairs perfectly with a selection of our cheeses. There is a nice patio outside and the inside makes you feel welcome! Besides the wine and cheese Siem serves a lot of different dishes and drinks. Siem serves specialized beers that are artisan made, and they have a wide range of organic lemonades.

And last but not least, visit the Landstraat where our shop is at. Nest to us there is a bakery, the best butcher in town where you also can buy a good sandwich. You should ask for the ‘grill worst’ it’s everyone’s favourite! Next to the butcher there is a vegetable-shop that also have homemade salads, meals and desserts. Its like a healthy candy store! On the other side there a two hair salons: : Knippenenzo and for the men a real tradional turkish barber; Fresh . Across the street you will find an excellent fish shop with a huge choice of fresh and baked fish and there is a liquor store.

Right around the corner you can buy the best home made soups. Our favourite is the Italian tomato soup with pesto and parmesan. But the menu has a variety of soups and sandwiches. You can sit and enjoy your soup at Trev’s but there is also a takeaway possibility.

A bit further in the area you find a little village called Kortenhoef, there you can rent a boat. You can make a trip and enjoy the beautiful architecture, bridges and monuments! https://jachthavenkortenhoef.nl

Its good to know that creditcard payments are not common in the Netherlands. Be sure you have alternatives, and of course there are some ATM machine’s.

We hope you will enjoy your stay!
